Our Fylde Coast Integrated Urgent Care Service (FCIUCS) is an important part of the local urgent and emergency care system. Led by Carron Fothergill, Head of Fylde Coast Urgent Care, we operate the following:
We are the frontline reception team at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. Our experienced and extensively trained staff play a really important role in supporting patients to use the digital triage system. This ensures they arrive at the most appropriate location whether the Emergency Department, the neighbouring Urgent Treatment Centre also provided by FCMS, pharmacy or self-care. Our urgent care services are available to the Fylde Coast population and to temporary residents and visitors 24/7 and 365 days a year.
FCMS also provides Blackpool Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) on Whitegate Drive (formerly the Walk in Centre).
Open 24/7, 365 days a year, our hard-working teams support patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses. The team work very closely with the local NHS 111 service to ensure patients can be booked into our service with ease.
Our UTC services are available to the Fylde Coast population and to temporary residents and visitors.
This is a GP Led service with a multidisciplinary team of staff. They are supported by our wonderful non-clinical team and are managed by Deputy Head of Fylde Coast Integrated Urgent Care, Michelle Sproston.
Located at the Fleetwood Health & Wellbeing Centre on Dock Street, the centre is open from 8am – 8pm 7 days per week including Bank Holidays. X-Ray facilities are available Monday-Friday 9am – 4.30pm and pharmacy open Monday-Friday 9am – 6.30pm.
The Out of Hours service provides cover for local GP practices when they are closed for patients who need urgent medical attention. Appointments are made by contacting NHS111.
Our highly skilled team provides additional clinical validation for patients who are referred via NHS111, 999 or by another healthcare professional. The CAS team ensures that patients receive the most appropriate onward care and can refer into a wide range of services.
Operating 7 days a week from Whitegate Drive, South Shore Primary Care Centre, Fleetwood Health Centre, Lytham St Anne’s Primary Care Centre & Freckleton, Beechwood Surgery, Garstang Medical Centre, Over Wyre Medical Centre, Kirkham Health Centre and includes evening and weekend routine appointments e.g. GP appointments, smear clinics, chronic disease management, phlebotomy clinics, ear syringing, and more. Appointments can be booked via a patient’s own GP practice.
Our dedicated Wound Care Team provide clinics for patients registered with a Fylde or Wyre GP currently in Fleetwood, St Anne’s and Freckleton.
Care Coordination is a single point of access admission avoidance service to enable patients with complex healthcare needs be cared for in the surroundings they wish to be cared and prevent unplanned hospital attendances.
Care Coordination work closely with Trinity Hospice to support excellent of end-of-life care. The service navigates calls from Virtual ward and remote monitoring patients.
The service is continually expanding as we identify new and innovative ways of meeting the needs of patients across the Fylde Coast.
The Doncaster Urgent Care system became FCMS’ first face to face service outside of Lancashire in 2015. In 2020 we were delighted to be able to continue delivery of these services, alongside partners in the Primary Care Alliance

Our Urgent Treatment Centre is co-located at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and operates 24/7 365 days a year using a highly skilled multidisciplinary team. Appointments are made via NHS111 or as directed by the Emergency Department.
This service operates from within the Urgent Treatment Centre and is operational Monday – Friday 6pm – 8am and all-day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays. Appointments are made via NHS111.
Based on South Parade in Doncaster, we offer a Same Day Health Centre service. Patients receive a comprehensive consultation from a suitably qualified clinician within 24 hours of the appointment being requested.
The service is mainly community based and integrates and supports existing community services, helping to bridge the gap between primary and secondary care, bringing patient care closer to home and in doing so, supporting the reduction of hospital admissions.
Tier 3 Wound Care service provided both in and out of hours. Appointments are made by GP practice.
FCMS also provides a Wound Care service for patients with complex needs.
We’ve been providing a CAS in Doncaster since December 2022 and Sheffield since 2023. The CAS is integrated with Morecambe Bay and the Fylde Coast, meaning clinicians can manage referrals from any of our locations.
We provide an acute respiratory hub for children and adults with acute respiratory symptoms, most likely due to infection
As of 2023 we provide clinical support to the local ambulance service

Open 8am-8pm, 365 days a year, our GP led Urgent Treatment Centre has supported the population of Morecambe, Lancaster and the surrounding areas with a high quality, accessible service for over a decade. We accept walk in appointments for patients with minor injuries, and have bookable appointments for urgent illness presentations, which can be accessed via NHS111.
Provided on behalf of Morecambe & Lancaster and also West Lancs, these services are operational 6pm – 8am on weekdays and all-day weekends and bank holidays. Appointments are available via NHS111.
We provide a CAS for North Lancashire up to and including South Cumbria. This is a service for patients that may require an additional clinical assessment to make sure they are cared for in the most appropriate setting. Patients can access the service via 111, or by direct referral from the ambulance service.
In East Lancashire, we provide the Rossendale Minor Injuries Unit. Located in Rawtenstall we have a mix of highly skilled team members who treat minor injuries patients, offering both bookable and walk-in appointments. The service is located at the Rossendale Primary Health Care Centre and is operational 8am-8pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
