FCMS Is Now an Approved Apprenticeship Provider!

We have hit a huge milestone at FCMS by launching our new in-house employer apprenticeship programme.

For several years now we have been supporting people internally with local colleges with their apprenticeships. This has helped members of staff with support from education organisations. Now we can offer our own apprenticeships, in house and create aspiring careers for people to grow within FCMS.

Statistics show that people can sometimes feel that they have no clear career progression and feel stuck in their roles. We have built a progression pathway for all employees, this is so everyone can upskill to be able to level themselves up within FCMS. Ultimately, we would love to grow our own heads of departments and leaders, and we want the apprenticeship programme to assist in achieving this goal.

What We Deliver

Starting in December 2025, we began with a small cohortdelivering our first apprenticeship programme, Customer Service. The course lasts 12 months, with each employee obtaining a nationally recognised qualification at the end of it. In addition, we will be commencing the Emergency Contact Handler programme, encouraging our employees that operate in our call handling and some patient interaction roles to explore the apprenticeship opportunity to progress their careers.

Delivering apprenticeships internally provides a huge benefit for our people; you achieve a full career-boosting qualification whilst working in your current role without having to take time off to pay your way through a study programme elsewhere!

Meet our Training and Development Tutor

Alistair Burr, our new Training and Development Tutor, has joined FCMS to help deliver these courses to our apprentices. Alistair is a trained teacher and has spent the last 30 years lecturing at local college in psychology, biology and health. He has previously trained NHS workers and brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Alistair has already made an impact to our first apprentices. Here’s what he’s had to say…

“I am delighted to be joining the wonderful staff at FCMS and greatly looking forward to delivering and developing our in-house apprenticeship programme. I am sincerely impressed by the talents and commitment of our current apprentices and those colleagues I have worked with so far. The apprenticeship programme is a great opportunity to reflect on your current knowledge and skills and to further develop your expertise, insights and prospects. Thank you for making me feel so welcome. I look forward to meeting and working with colleagues right across FCMS.”
