FCMS started as a GP cooperative in 1994 providing home visiting services across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre.

Fast forward to today and we deliver services across the Fylde Coast, Lancashire & South Cumbria, South Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, and the Midlands.  We’ve grown to providing everything from urgent care, diagnostic services, emergency dental services, call handling, and targeted care for vulnerable communities and much much more. 

We only provide services we have a passion for and that we know we can deliver to an exceptional standard.

Our Story

FCMS is founded as a GP Co-operative across Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre, providing a GP home visiting service

Devonshire Road Hospital used as an operational base

1994

A surgery based service became operational using Dermatology Out-patient facilities at Devonshire Rd

1997

Began developing computerised patient clinical records

1998

Moved to the Out of Hours Primary Care Centre at 88 Whitegate Drive, Blackpool

1999

Began to develop a multi-disciplinary clinical team with GPs, nurses, dentists, paramedics, mental health nurses and social workers

2000

Won National Health and Social Care Award for Emergency Care

2002

PDS Medical founded

Suzy Layton appointed as FCMS CEO

PDS Medical delivers first echocardiography waiting list service

2004

PDS Medical and FCMS create partnership called Gold Standard Health

2007

First ambulatory ECG service provided

2008

Same Day Health Centre in Fleetwood launched

2009

Began to deliver Blackpool Teaching Hospital's Urgent Care Centre

2010

Starting delivering 111 call handling service using NHS Pathways

2011

Pilot provider of The Silver Line Service

Announced as provider of Morecambe Bay Urgent Care services. Same Day Health Centre Morecambe opens

2012

Preferred provider to deliver national call handling for The Silver Line Service

Stability Partner for NHS 111

PDS Medical begins to offer a non-obstetric ultrasound service

2013

Successful in bid to provide 111 services across the North West 

Diagnostics service receives British Society of Echocardiography accreditation

FCMS celebrates 20 Year Anniversary

Awarded Doncaster Urgent Care Service

NHS 111 contract with NWAS goes live

PDS Medical launches Rossendale Minor Injuries Unit

FCMS awarded Extended Access at Doncaster in collaboration with Doncaster Primary Care

FCMS celebrates 25 year anniversary

PDS Medical purchases first mobile clinic

FCMS deliver new Virtual Ward services for Covid patients

Range of Covid-19 services launched including pulse oximetry @ home, swabbing, testing and vaccinations

Successful in bid to retain Doncaster Urgent Care Services as part of the Primary Care Alliance

PDS Medical becomes wholly owned subsidiary company of FCMS

2020

Remote monitoring service for long term conditions goes live on Fylde Coast 

New Homeless Health service launched across the Fylde Coast

Successful in bid to join NHS England's Community Diagnostic Hub Framework

FCMS purchases and repurposes single decker bus to be used as a mobile clinic

All PDS Medical services transferred to be managed and delivered by FCMS

2021

Emergency Dental Service launched in Blackburn & Burnley

Dental Helpline Service expands to include South Cumbria

Launch of mobile health assessments and ear syringing 

West Lancashire GP Out of Hours service goes live
